Gujarat’s Surat, Gandhinagar & Ahmedabad Shine Bright in Swachhata Rankings
Jul 17, 2025
Gujarat has once again proven its dedication to cleanliness and urban innovation. In the latest Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024-25, presented by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on July 17, the state’s major cities secured top national honors. Gujarat’s Health Minister Rushikesh Patel received the awards during the national ceremony organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Surat received the "Best City in Solid Waste Management" award in the category of cities with a population over 10 lakhs. Ahmedabad has been declared the "Cleanest Big City" in the same population category, acknowledging the city’s holistic efforts in cleanliness, community engagement, and waste innovation. And Gandhinagar was honored under the "Super Swachh League" as the top city in the 3 to 10 lakh population category. These accolades reflect the success of Gujarat’s structured governance, proactive public participation, and commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Gujarat is not just growing—it is growing cleaner and smarter, setting an example for the rest of the nation.
