Hanoi [Vietnam], August 9: Ha Nhi shared that having the opportunity to collaborate on a new music project changed her perspective on singer-songwriter Khac Viet.
Singer Ha Nhi officially launched her project "Dare Not Say Goodbye ," part of her EP "Women ," marking a collaboration with Khac Viet. This project tells stories about women from the perspectives of both genders: a seasoned man and a woman who lives life to the fullest. Therefore, each song is not just a love ballad but also a glimpse into love, hurt, and personal growth.
Khac Viet 'breaks the rule' for Ha Nhi
Ha Nhi revealed that before starting the project, she thought Khac Viet's music wasn't really suitable for her. However, the process of working together completely changed her perspective on the songwriter. When she received the demo, the singer realized that what was missing wasn't the song itself, but her vision of how to perform it. "That missing part was in me," the 9X singer shared.
Notably, many of the songs in the EP were completed by Khắc Việt years ago, but he decided to hold them back until he found the right voice. For him, Ha Nhi is the perfect piece to convey the spirit of these songs. Khắc Việt shared that his junior colleague possesses a powerful, emotional voice but still has much untapped potential. Their shared musical vision and the right timing brought them together for this collaboration.
Ha Nhi didn't hesitate to reveal her very different impressions of her collaborator. While she initially envisioned Khac Viet as a dry, calm, and somewhat patriarchal person, during the project, the singer from Nghe An saw an artist who was decisive, meticulous, and wholeheartedly dedicated to the product. The female singer jokingly said that only when "money was mentioned" did their brotherly relationship "run into a little trouble," otherwise Khac Viet was both "willing to take risks" and "hardworking" in his work.
Most importantly, this project dispelled Ha Nhi's preconceived notions about Khac Viet's perspective on women. According to her, behind the image of a seemingly tough man lies a keen observational and empathetic ability. "Luckily, Viet already has a family and two children, otherwise I think I would have misunderstood many things. He plays the female role in these romantic stories so convincingly," she said.
Regarding the opinion that collaborating with a musician from an older generation might create a distance with younger audiences, Ha Nhi sees it differently. For her, Khac Viet hasn't lost his appeal; he simply dedicated many years to his family life. The compositions accumulated during that time are like a "bottle of wine aged for five years," mature enough to offer a unique flavor upon release.
Despite making a strong impression after The Masked Singer , Ha Nhi is not in a hurry to return to television programs. The singer said that the word "criticism" she mentioned wasn't directed at game shows, but at herself. The singer from Nghe An believes she still needs more time to build a foundation with quality music projects before entering any other arena. "I want to have enough products to stand firm as a singer before becoming a game show contestant. Perhaps when the audience puts enough pressure on me, I will appear on a suitable program," she shared.
