Beijing 2022 ice hockey test program underway

Apr 03, 2021

Beijing (China) Apr 3: An ice hockey test program began at Beijing's National Indoor Stadium on Friday morning, marking the stadium's debut as the venue for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The National Indoor Stadium previously hosted artistic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics and handball events during the Beijing Olympics in 2008, as well as wheelchair basketball during that year's Paralympic Games.
Tan Chengguo, captain of Capital University of Physical Education and Sports' ice hockey team, said he and his teammates felt the test program was wonderful.
"I could not adapt to the ice here at first. Not because it's bad, but because it's so good! I've never skated on such good ice," said Tan.
In order to provide a comfortable and convenient experience for athletes, 14 locker rooms have been added between the competition and training areas to minimize walking distance.
